Discipline: Physics

(Discipline Code: 0702)

Brief Introduction to Discipline

Authorized by the academic degrees committee of the state council, our physics discipline has the right to grant the first-class Phd degree in physics, since march 2011. Our current focuses mainly lie in theoretical physics, condensed matter physics, optics, etc. The physics discipline is within the top 1% of ESI ranking all over the world, and is among the key disciplines of Jiangsu Province during the 13th and 14th Five Year Plans.

There are more than 40 full-time professors in this discipline, many of whom received national/provincial award/titles. The vast majority of supervisors had overseas study or work experience.

This discipline currently has research bases such as the Key Laboratory of Quantum Materials and Information Devices of the Ministry of Education and the Inter-science Platform of Southeast University. In the past 5 years, faculty members of this discipline have directed over 70 national projects, published over 1000 high-impact academic papers in international first-class academic journals, and won a second prize of State Science and Technology Progress Award and two science and technology awards granted by provincial government or ministries with the collaboration of sister universities.

Objectives

Students will grasp the fundamental principles of Marxism, stick to the Four Cardinal Principles, have the sense of patriotic duty, abide by the laws and regulations, and behave upright. Meanwhile, the students will develop their spirit of serving the people and devoting to the construction of socialism.

Students will have solid, broad, systematical, and in-depth knowledge in the field of physics. Students will acquire proficiency in at least one foreign language and can used it smoothly. Students will have the capability of doing scientific research independently and solving relevant technical problems.

To educate students to be qualified Phd's with patriotism and international vision. Graduates are expected to grow as leaders to lead future and benefit human society.
